Amman, July 18 (Petra) – Kuwait said on Saturday that a fire broke out at a second power and water desalination plant after an Iranian air strike.
"In light of the heinous Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait, another power and water desalination plant came under a hostile attack that sparked a fire in one of the plant's components," the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy said in a press release.
The fire required precautionary operational measures, including the shutdown of several generating units, to ensure the safety of the plant and its employees, and guarantee the stability of the electrical grid, it said.
The ministry said emergency plans were activated, and firefighting and repair work is ongoing.
The Iranian strike prompted the shutdown of several generating units, a day after an attack on another power plant caused a fire and damage.
